Announcing FOWA Expo London October 2007!

We’re very excited to announce the return of Future of Web Apps, and this time it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before!

This sell-out event returns to London, but for the first time at its new home in ExCel, London’s premier events venue, and at a new date in the calendar, October 3-5th.

We have created three new tracks in order to provide the very best, relevant content in the key areas of web development today:

  1. Development: Hear from industry experts on building web app security, OpenID, scaling your app, web page performance and more …
  2. Business & Marketing: The nuts and bolts of successful web ventures – funding, cash flow, customer support, marketing tips and more …
  3. Showcase: Industry-strength products and services such as Flex 2, Silverlight, Apollo, development platforms and more …

The state-of-the-art facilities will mean you get a better conference experience, with loads of room to speak to fellow attendees. Expect amazing keynote speakers and useful tips, whether you’re a developer, manager or entrepreneur. It’s going to be a really fun and insightful three days.

Prepare to meet tons of great people

The last FOWA event completely sold out, so don’t miss this amazing opportunity to meet people just like you, forge new friendships and catch up with familiar faces. And what’s more, you can be part of FOWA Expo for just £5 a ticket (if you catch the early bird).

Introducing our new FOWA Conference Chairs

We’ve listened to your feedback and want to ensure that every single part of FOWA brings you the best, most inspiring and practical insight from a range of different perspectives. That’s why we’ve been working with the best in the business to make sure this happens. We invited Simon Willison to chair the Developer Track, and Brian Oberkirch to chair the Business & Marketing Track.

Full day of workshops

On October 5th, we’ll have a full day of workshops on both development and business/marketing. Stay tuned for the workshop subjects …

Brand new expo hall

We decided to add an expo to FOWA in order to allow you to talk to people behind some of the leading products in the industry, research suppliers and expand your network. It should be fun to wander around and see what everyone is up to.

It’d be pretty cool to have Hugh McLeod on the marketing track somewhere.

Will the state-of-the-art facilities include wireless-internet-that-actually-works?

Will the state-of-the-art facilities include wireless-internet-that-actually-works?

    You bet 🙂

Good luck guys – unfortunately I am leaving London for Aus in August, so I wont be able to make it, but I have been to the ExCel center a few times and it’s cool…

Wow ExCel center is a pretty big step up in terms of venue – I’m pleased to hear the FO*A franchise is working out for you all.

Look forward to seeing the line up,

Really want to get into the web app scene, this will be the first event of its type i will be attending, if of course i manage to get a ticket!!!

You should get someone from the grails camp (i.e. the web development framework like rails but uses java/groovy) to come talk about rapid/scalable web development using grails. check out, it’s starting to get a lot of traction with Java developers who want the all nice bits of ROR.

The leader developer is a guy called Graeme Rocher, I think he is based in Brighton…

  8. 8 Jesse Thomas June 14, 2007 at 3:40 pm

I am with AOL’s UI & Prototype Team, I would love to speak…

  9. 9 Freddy June 14, 2007 at 3:42 pm

I’d like to see Kevin Rose from Digg, Guy Kawasaki talking about Truemors and 2.0 in general… but the guy I really want to see is Rand Fishkin from… he is the leading SEOer in the world and basically I would pay to see him alone. And no I don’t work for him!!!

  10. 10 Julian June 14, 2007 at 3:56 pm

Here are some people I’d love to see speak:

    – Robert Scoble
    – Nova Spivack from Radar Networks (big on web 3)
    – Howard Rheingold, author of Smart Mobs
    – JP Rangaswami, CIO of BT
    – someone from Technorati

    ALSO, some fun:
    – do a three way head to head of the following RIA platforms:
    – Silverlight 1.0 & 1.1 beta
    – Flex 2
    – OpenLaszlo 4.0

As it is called FUTURE of web apps, and chance of having some Flex speakers?

  12. 12 randommel June 15, 2007 at 12:03 am

Thanks for all of your feedback guys – it’s great to have your support. ExCeL certainly is a big change for us from the previous venue, but we sincerely believe that it will mean we can offer more to you as attendees.

Andrew – your recommendation about grails is something that had previously come up in discussions and we would like to encompass in some way – so I’ll make sure we follow this up.

We’re always open to any other recommendations or requests 😀
